About the Festival

The Festival Internacional de Música de Cámara “Fundación MonteLeón” is an initiative created by the Fundación MonteLeón in 2010 in León, with the aim of advancing the careers of outstanding young chamber music ensembles (Spanish and international) alongside major artists of international standing.

The festival has been a pioneer both in its purpose and in its structure:

• For a programme that brings together young ensembles of the highest level alongside an internationally renowned group.
  
  
• For offering quality audiovisual and media resources to young musicians for their professional promotion (extensive coverage in specialist magazines, radio and TV, streaming of the concerts and high-quality video production). In addition, a selection from each concert is kept on our YouTube channel.

Among the distinguished figures who have visited us: Kuss Quartet, Quatuor Ébène, the cellist Nicolas Altstaedt, the Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt, Quartetto di Cremona, Trio di Parma, Cuarteto Quiroga, the great British cellist Steven Isserlis, and other important guest artists who can be found on our website.

For each edition the festival selects the participating young ensembles through an annual call for applications with specific requirements and conditions, published at the beginning of the year. The Guest Artist takes part at the invitation of Festival MonteLeón itself.

All the concerts take place in the remarkable setting of the Auditorio “Ciudad de León”.

Festival MonteLeón has been part of FestClásica (the Spanish Association of Classical Music Festivals) since 2016.
